<description>Not to second-guess or in any way undermine your decision, but I'd like to add another p.o.v. to the mix. This comes from me, the precocious punk rock street waif, and me, the anthropologist. In that order.
It is almost certain that a) she'll get over the septum piercing as well, and probably pretty quickly. Blowing her nose would, well, blow, as would sleeping, and putting on powder, and it's Really Just Not Attractive. (She knows that, so telling her that will not help.) Jos doesn't seem the kind of damaged that *sticks with* the defacement of beauty, but b) I totally understand the need to try, at least temporarily. And even I took out my (self-inflicted and actually kind of sexy) nostril piercings after a while... ok after 4 years, but I was 18 at that point, and didn't need them any more, and they had by then become trendy, which leads to c) if she does stuff like this now, she will be so much better prepared for adulthood when she reaches it. All those loser 20-somethings you see acting out and doing actual damage to their futures now that they're finally done pretending to live by their parents rules? Not her peers, esp. if she does the adolescent stuff while she's an adolescent. Which brings us to d) Jos is a smart girl. I think highly of her, and so I have to think: "any further mutilations will have to wait... any? ooooh, might that maybe be 'any that we can see'?" A girl's going to lash out in some way against rulings like that; she has to, it's her domain. She's not one of those girls who will crash the car, or have sex with someone grossly inappropriate, or throw her grades, or steal from you or damage the furniture. She's going to pierce something, or cut something, or brand or shave or... heaven help us if she starts hanging out with the girls that drink and/or do a lot of raver drugs. No one wants that.

A nose ring that may fade into passe-ity might be a lot better than a secret spiteful act, is all I'm saying. Plus, think of the incriminating photographs that you can show the grandkids. "Look at your mommy, back when she was a teenage bad-ass. Aww!"

With all of that said, if she ever decides she might want a tongue piercing, or a labrette (lower lip stud), please let me give her 100 Reasons Not To.
I can almost promise dissuasion.
Possibly even nightmares.
